Shipping, returns and cancellations

Shipping

Orders ship from our Chicago studio by FedEx, Monday through Friday. Glass is carefully packed, and tracking is emailed when the box leaves. Shipping is calculated at checkout for every order.

Pieces in stock ship within three to five business days. Made-to-order pieces are made for you after you order: most ship in two to three weeks, and the more complex pieces take up to six to eight weeks. The product page says when a piece is made to order.

Orders over $1,000 are delivered with a signature, and we can add a signature to any order on request. If you ask for one, please answer the carrier’s attempts to reach you; any extra shipping cost from a missed delivery is yours.

Alaska, Hawaii and international orders are quoted one at a time. Write to info@igniteglass.com with the piece and the address. For international orders the quote includes duties, so your order never waits in customs.

If delivery at your address needs anything special (a gate code, a loading dock, a safe spot to leave the box), add it to the notes on your order or email us.

Pick up at the studio

You can pick up any order at 401 N. Armour St. instead of shipping it. The same handling times apply (three to five business days for pieces in stock, longer for made-to-order pieces), and we email you when it’s ready. Pick up Monday to Wednesday 11am–4pm, Thursday 12pm–7pm, Friday 11am–4pm, or by appointment.

Returns and refunds

Every piece is made by hand, and many are made to order, so we don’t offer returns or refunds unless something is wrong with your order. Sale items are final sale.

If something is wrong (the wrong item was sent, or it arrived broken or damaged), tell us within seven days of delivery at info@igniteglass.com with a photo of the box and the piece. In most cases you won’t need to send anything back; if we do need the piece, we pay the return shipping. Then you choose: we remake or replace it and send it again, we refund the order, or we issue store credit.

Refunds go back to the original payment method; an order paid with a gift card is refunded to a gift card. A refund requested thirty days or more after the order is issued as store credit. Store credit is good for two years.

Classes, workshops and private lessons

Class bookings are not refundable, but they can be moved. Reschedule for free up to 24 hours before your session. Inside 24 hours, and for no-shows and late arrivals, the session is forfeited unless you choose to reschedule for a fee of $50 per person. The same rules apply to private lessons and Make Your Own sessions; group experiences are events with their own contract and rescheduling terms.

If we have to cancel (a studio closure, weather, equipment), you choose a new date or a full refund.

Everyone signs a liability waiver before class. The minimum age is 12; a parent or guardian signs for anyone under 18 and is welcome to stay, but doesn’t have to.

Pieces made in class are ready five business days after your session, for pickup or shipping at the calculated rate. We hold them for up to three months.

Gift cards

Gift cards never expire and are good for anything we make or teach: pieces on the site and in the studio, classes, custom work and private events. A card can pay for part of an order, with the rest on a credit card. Gift cards can’t be exchanged for cash. If the gift card email is lost, write to info@igniteglass.com with the buyer’s name and email and we’ll resend it. Older paper gift certificates are still honored; send us a photo or other proof of the certificate.

Custom work, awards and commissions

Custom pieces start with a design fee of $500 per design, which is not refundable and is credited to your order when you go ahead. Once the design is final, payment in full is due before we begin. Larger commissions can be arranged case by case with a 50% non-refundable deposit, the remaining 50% due on completion, before pickup or shipping.

You approve the design, or the proof for engraving, before any glass is made. Changes after approval are quoted on the complexity of the change. If you cancel after work has started, the deposit is kept. An engraving mistake on our side is remade at no charge; a typo on a proof you approved is remade at your cost.

Private events are covered by their own contract; write to events@igniteglass.com.

Glass unity ceremony kits

Glass unity ceremony kits (Vessel of Us) include three shipments anywhere in the contiguous United States: the kit to you, the prepaid tracked return of your mixed colors to the studio, and the finished piece back to you. Kits ship within two to five business days of the order. Order at least three to four weeks before the ceremony; if the date is closer, write to info@igniteglass.com, usually overnight shipping is possible for an additional charge. A two-week rush on the finished piece is available for the fee shown at checkout. Alaska, Hawaii and international kits are quoted and coordinated case by case.

Cancel before the kit ships for a full refund. Once it has shipped, and before the colors are mixed at your ceremony, keep the kit and choose a $600 refund or the full amount as studio credit, good for two years. After the colors are poured the order can’t be cancelled, but postponing is free: the order stays open for twelve months and we extend it on request. A wrong or broken unity piece is remade from your archived colors at no additional charge.

The color sample card ships by first-class mail and is not returnable; its price is credited to your kit order with the code in your order email.
