Kim Kuehne

Kim Kuehne makes fused glass at Ignite Glass Studios in Chicago from the studio’s own leftovers: discarded glass canes gathered around the hot shop, cut into half-inch chunks or laid side by side and fused flat in the kiln. Some panels are combed while hot so the colors feather and swirl (Blue With a Twist, Ruby Grapefruit Feathering); others set opposing twisted canes next to each other so the surface seems to move (Twisted Reality); others are cut-cane mosaics in tropical and citrus colors, including a fused Citrus Plate. Each panel is one of a kind, made at Ignite in Chicago’s West Town and shipped double boxed nationwide.
