Scheduling Your Appointment

Many groups are scheduled during weekday daytime hours. Some groups come in late afternoons and early weekday evenings. When available, weekend early evenings can sometimes be scheduled. In order to schedule our staffing appropriately to meet the needs of your group we require at least 7 business days notice and payment for a guaranteed number of attendees. If possible we will accommodate additional people added to the group, but please realize this will extend the duration of your event. The glassblowing part of our business is not a walk-in type of service.

It is typical for a group, depending on size, to work with 1 to 4 of our Artist Instructors. Each person in the group will have 15 – 35 minutes with our Artist Instructors depending on the item they are making. The duration of your group is calculated by the item being made, the number in your group, and the number of Artists Instructors scheduled.

Email events@igniteglass.com to schedule a group experience.

When you get out of your comfort zone, you learn something about yourself and your co-workers, too. That transitions back to the workplace.

What happens the day of your Group Glassblowing Experience

Everyone will arrive and be greeted in the gallery and asked to sign our waiver then taken back to the hot shop studio. The artist will introduce themselves and give an overview of the activity. There will be chairs around the oven/bench that will be used for the glassblowing. We find that other members of the group enjoy watching as their co-workers make their glass.

Parking: There is non-metered street parking along Armour Street as well as Kinzie, Also, we're CTA Accessible via the Green/Pink Lines to the Ashland & Lake Station.

Timing: It is very important to arrive on time for your event because the Hot Shop has limited space and availability and often events, lessons and/or educational programs are scheduled back to back. We want to make sure that each person has the opportunity to participate, and we cannot always guarantee that if we get a late start.

Event Attire: Please wear long pants, closed toed shoes and a cool, comfortable shirt. (long sleeves and 100% cotton clothing are recommended, and cotton jeans are ok). Please tie back long hair. Jewelry on your wrists (watches/bracelets) can get hot, we suggest you remove it. Safety eyewear will be provided.

Picking up your Glass Pieces: Your glass pieces should be ready for pick-up approximately 3 to 5 days after your event is over. Each piece will be individually bagged and labeled. We can also arrange for to have them shipped, which is easiest arranged ahead of time, but we can figure out the details the night of your event as well. The cost for domestic shipping is $20 per piece within Illinois, and $25 per piece outside of Illinois.

Food & Beverage: We do not have on-site food or beverage. You can bring in your own snacks and soft drinks, order pizza or have food trays dropped off and we can provide a table with black linen and a trash can. We do not have cups, plates, utensil, napkins, or ice, etc. We ask that you please clean up and we’ll take out the trash . . . You can create a more exclusive experience by renting out the Hot Shop and work with one of our caterers to provide food and bar service. Exclusive use of the Hot Shop has a room fee of $500. Tables and chairs can be added for an additional fee. You cannot bring in your own alcohol.
