This piece is a combed fused glass panel created using repurposed discarded glass canes found around Ignite Glass Studios. To comb a fused glass panel you need to fire the piece up 1600°. Once the kiln has reached this temperature the glass is in a liquid molten state allowing the artist to open the kiln, reach in, and comb a design into the piece using a metal rod.
Kim fused glass artwork is inspired by the idea of recycling and repurposing discarded unwanted leftover glass materials and transforming them into beautiful eye catching works of art. Each piece is handmade in Chicago, IL.
